This position starts at $16.63* per hour.  *Hourly rate may vary based on education, experience or qualifications.

Typical hours M-TH 6am-3pm  Friday 6am-10am
Some weekend and evening hours - rotating schedule

 *Regular, full time employees will be eligible for health insurance benefits on the first day of the month following sixty days of full time employment.  Health insurance benefits include medical, prescription, dental and vision.

Position Summary: Responsible for assisting the day-to-day operation, maintenance, and programs of the Parks Division of the Parks and Recreation Department.

Essential Functions:
  • Observe safety precautions; correct minor safety problems; conduct activities in a safe manner.
  • Provide litter control for park grounds, which includes emptying 35-gallon trashcans.
  • Operate a variety of trucks and vehicles in the performance of work.
  • Operate mowers, trimmers, chainsaws, and other equipment in a safe manner.
  • Assist in inspections to ensure the safety of the public facilities; note possible safety hazards or causes of injury; perform general maintenance and repair to facilities as required.
  • Maintain inventory control on all equipment
  • Participate in snow and debris removal following flooding and other forms of inclement weather.
  • Perform special projects as assigned.
  • Prepare/clean all park shelters prior to rental; ensure that tables and benches are clean and safe
  • Maintain band shell; ensure that safety and electrical needs are met.
  • Assist in maintenance of spray park and pool equipment as needed; perform service on pools and spray parks as directed
  • Move materials and other related items for community events
  • Maintain restroom facilities at all parks; ensure that they are stocked with necessary products and are safe, sanitary and free from graffiti and debris.
  • Assist with mowing and landscaping functions at parks and other public facilities as directed.

    Experience:  This is an entry level position, prior experience is not required.  Employee is expected to acquire the necessary information and skills to perform the job satisfactorily within six months.
