Part-Time Cemetery Maintenance
Varying schedule Monday-Friday, March-October.
Pay Rate:
Starting at $12.00/hour: varies based on experience and qualifications.
Age Requirements:
Must be at least 18 years of age.
Position Summary:
Responsible for assisting with the day-to-day maintenance and upkeep of City cemeteries. This position supports grounds maintenance, equipment operation, and customer service functions while ensuring safety standards are met.
Essential Functions:
- Assist with mowing, trimming, and general grounds maintenance of cemeteries
- Operate mowers, tractors, dump trucks, and other equipment in a safe manner
- Assist with grave site preparation, including digging, backfilling, and setting markers
- Perform litter control and debris removal throughout cemetery grounds
- Assist with snow and debris removal following inclement weather
- Perform routine maintenance and basic repairs to equipment and facilities
- Assist with tree upkeep and removal as directed
- Follow all safety procedures and correct minor safety concerns when observed
- Assist with special projects and community needs as assigned
- Provide courteous assistance to the public and answer basic questions regarding cemetery policies and procedures
Minimum Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED preferred
- Experience with grounds maintenance or outdoor work preferred
- Valid Kansas Driver’s License required
- Ability to safely operate or learn to operate maintenance and grounds equipment
Work is performed primarily outdoors and includes exposure to varying weather conditions, equipment operation, and physical labor.
