Part-Time Kitchen Helper - El Dorado Senior Center
Position Overview:
The Part-Time Kitchen Helper is responsible for assisting with daily kitchen operations, including food preparation support, cleaning, stocking, and ensuring a sanitary environment. The role requires effective collaboration and communication with the kitchen team and El Dorado Senior Center Director to maintain smooth kitchen operations and deliver excellent service to senior center members. The kitchen helper will also be involved in contributing feedback for continuous improvement.
Hours:
Monday - Friday, 9:30 AM - 1:30 PM
Compensation: $12.00 per hour. KPERS eligible
Key Responsibilities:
- Food Service Support:
- Prepare beverages, including coffee and iced tea, for lunch service.
- Roll silverware (plastic and metal) and ensure adequate supplies are ready for the day.
- Assist in setting up the dining area for daily meals and special events.
- Cleaning & Maintenance:
- Clean and sanitize kitchen surfaces, equipment, and dining areas after meal preparation and service.
- Clean and maintain coffee makers, including daily cleaning of coffee pots.
- Clean and sanitize the ice maker, ice buckets, and scoops regularly.
- Ensure cleanliness of the kitchen floor by sweeping and mopping daily.
- Perform deep cleaning of the fridge and organize stored items with direction from the Director.
- Fridge & Freezer Management:
- Label and date all items in the fridge and freezer.
- Discard expired food items and maintain an organized storage system.
- Stocking & Inventory:
- Stock beverage area daily.
- Restock kitchen supplies, such as utensils, cups, napkins, and condiments.
- Monitor and report low stock levels to the supervisor for timely reordering.
- Menu Feedback:
- Provide constructive feedback on the week’s menu and assist in planning meals for the upcoming week.
- Other Duties:
- Assist with meal preparation tasks as directed by the supervisor.
- Perform other kitchen-related duties as assigned to ensure smooth and efficient operations.
- Assist with other requests from the supervisor.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong organizational and multitasking skills.
- Basic knowledge of food safety and sanitation procedures.
- Ability to lift to 25 lbs and stand for extended periods.
- Positive attitude and team-oriented approach.
